What full highlights are

Full highlights means your stylist places foils throughout your entire head, top to bottom, front to back. Every section gets lightened, including the underneath and the nape. The result is an all-over brighter, more uniform blonde (or lighter shade) with less of your natural color showing through.

This is the service for clients who want to look noticeably blonde, not just "did she get highlights?" but "she's blonde."

Full vs. partial highlights

Partial highlights only lighten the top layers and face-framing pieces. Your natural color stays underneath. That works beautifully for a subtle, dimensional result. Full highlights go further.

Choose full highlights when:

  • You want more overall brightness and less visible natural color
  • Your goal is blonde, not just "brighter"
  • You're already partially highlighted and want to take it further
  • You wear your hair up often and want the color to look consistent from every angle

Choose partial if you're happy with your natural base showing and you want less time in the chair and a lower cost.

What to expect

Full highlights typically take 2.5 to 3.5 hours depending on your hair length and thickness. The appointment includes a consultation, foil placement through all sections, processing time, a toner, and a finish.

Pricing starts at $150 and varies based on the amount of hair, the number of foils, and the level of lift needed. Your stylist will give you a clear quote during the consultation.

Maintenance

Full highlights need more regular upkeep than partial because there's less natural color to camouflage the regrowth. Plan on appointments every 6 to 10 weeks. A toner between sessions keeps the shade fresh and fights brassiness.

If you find the maintenance schedule too demanding, talk to your stylist about transitioning to a more lived-in placement. Many clients start with full highlights and eventually shift to a softer, more blended approach as their color goals evolve.
