Booking & Visits

Tell us what you’re looking for and we’ll make the match. Fill out our booking form with your hair goals and we’ll connect you with the perfect stylist. You can also browse our stylists page to see their specialties and recent work. Not sure yet? Start with a haircut and find your match from there.

We’ll greet you, offer you a drink, and get you settled. Your stylist will spend time understanding your hair goals before starting. First visits usually run a little longer so we can get to know your hair.

Yes. All three of our locations have free, convenient parking right outside the salon.

We do accept walk-ins when availability allows, but we strongly recommend booking in advance. Our stylists stay busy and same-day availability is limited. Booking online takes about two minutes and guarantees your spot.

We recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks in advance. Popular stylists book out further. The best practice is to pre-book your next appointment before you leave the salon. For events or holidays, book even earlier.

We recommend that you come with clean, dry hair and bring photos of any styles or colors you are interested in. Please avoid heavy styling products if you’re getting a color service.

Absolutely. You can request any stylist by name when you book. If they’re not available at your preferred time, we’ll let you know and help find an alternative. Browse our stylists page to find the right fit.

We understand that delays can happen. Please call us if you expect to be late. We’ll do our best to accommodate you, but please note that your appointment may need to be shortened or rescheduled if it overlaps with another client’s time.

Yes. Every first appointment includes a consultation at no charge. For complex services like color correction or extensions, you can also book a standalone consultation to discuss your goals and get a price estimate before committing.

Come with clean, dry hair. Skip styling products, dry shampoo, and leave-in conditioners so your stylist can see and work with your natural texture. This applies to every service at The Hair Standard.

Let us know at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations within 24 hours may incur a fee of 50% of the reserved service. We understand things come up. We'd much rather reschedule than mark it as a no-show. Call, text, or cancel through the booking system.

Pricing & Payment

Women's haircuts start at $65. Every haircut includes a consultation, wash, cut, blowout, and style. The price depends on your hair length, thickness, and the complexity of the cut. Your stylist will confirm the price before they start.

Partial highlights start at $115 and full highlights start at $150. The price depends on how many foils, how light you want to go, and your stylist's pricing. Every service includes a consultation and toner. Your stylist will walk you through the cost before starting.

Our starting prices are listed on each service page. Final pricing depends on your stylist’s level, hair length and volume, color history, and the complexity of the service. The best way to get an exact number is to book a free consultation. No surprises, no pressure.

Tipping is not mandatory, but it is greatly appreciated. Tipping is a common practice in the beauty industry to show satisfaction and appreciation for the stylist’s work. While not obligatory, it’s a kind gesture that acknowledges the stylist’s effort and skill. If you choose to tip, the general guideline is to tip between 15% to 20% of the total service cost. However, the amount can vary based on the level of satisfaction with the service provided. For exceptional service or for those who go above and beyond, some clients choose to tip more.

We accept all major credit cards, cash, and The Hair Standard gift cards as payment methods. Please note, a 3% fee is applied to payments made with credit cards. Unfortunately, we do not accept checks.

Absolutely! We offer free consultations where you can discuss your desired service with one of our stylists, and we will provide you with an estimated cost.

Service costs vary based on the time involved, the level of expertise required, and the products used. More complex services like color corrections or extensive transformations require more resources and are priced accordingly.

Balayage starts at $250 at The Hair Standard. Your final price depends on your hair length, how dramatic the color change is, and your stylist's pricing. Every appointment includes a consultation, toner, wash, blowout, and style. Your stylist will confirm your exact price before any work begins.

Our stylists are independent professionals who set their own pricing above the salon's base rates. Starting prices on our website reflect the minimum a service can cost. Experience, demand, and specialization all factor into each stylist's rates. Your stylist will confirm pricing during your consultation.

Generally, yes. Balayage starts at $250 while partial highlights start at $115. Balayage typically takes longer and involves more customized placement. However, balayage requires fewer touch-ups (every 3-5 months vs every 6-8 weeks for highlights), so the annual cost can be comparable.

Balayage & Color

About 90 minutes to 2 hours, including consultation, application, processing, wash, and blowout. It's one of our shorter color services.

Color can go darker easily, but it can't significantly lighten previously colored hair. If you want to go more than one or two shades lighter, your stylist may recommend highlights or a lightening service instead. They'll assess your hair during the consultation and recommend the right approach.

All-over color applies one uniform shade to your entire head. Highlights lighten individual sections using foils to create brightness and dimension. All-over color is simpler, faster, and less expensive. Highlights create more contrast and visual depth. Your stylist can recommend which is right for your goals.

Wait at least 48-72 hours before washing. This gives the color time to fully set. When you do wash, use lukewarm water and a sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo. The longer you wait between the first wash, the longer your color will last.

Use sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo and conditioner. Wash with lukewarm water, not hot. Avoid excessive heat styling. Limit sun exposure when possible. A toner refresh every 6-8 weeks between full sessions keeps the tone fresh and prevents brassiness.

All-over color (also called single-process color) applies one uniform shade from root to tip. It can darken, enrich, shift your tone, or cover gray. It's one of the simplest and fastest color services we offer.

Most clients come in every 4 to 6 weeks for a root touch up to keep the color fresh at the roots. A full root-to-tip application is only needed occasionally, usually when you want to shift your shade or refresh the vibrancy of the ends.

Yes, and it's the most common reason clients book this service. Your stylist will use a permanent color formula designed for full gray coverage. Even stubborn or resistant grays can be completely covered with the right formulation and processing time.

A bond treatment repairs your hair at the molecular level by reconnecting bonds broken during coloring, bleaching, or heat styling. We offer bond-building treatments that can be added to any color service. If your hair is color-treated or heat-styled regularly, a bond treatment helps maintain strength and shine. Ask your stylist if one would benefit you.

Balayage originally refers to a French freehand coloring technique, but at our salon (and most modern salons), it’s become a catch-all for a family of lightening techniques, including foilyage, teasylights, and babylights. When you book a balayage, your stylist will recommend the specific approach that works best for your hair. The result is natural-looking, dimensional color with a soft grow-out and no harsh lines.

Traditional highlights are woven into foils in uniform sections, which creates a consistent, all-over lightened effect. They look great fresh but show a distinct root line as they grow out, typically requiring touch-ups every 6 to 8 weeks. Balayage is applied more strategically and blends into your natural base, so the grow-out looks intentional. Full sessions can be stretched to 3 to 5 months, though a quick toner refresh every 6 to 8 weeks keeps the color looking its best.

Blonding is the process of lightening the hair to various shades of blonde. It can involve multiple techniques, including highlights, balayage, and all-over color.

Yes. Balayage is one of the best options for dark hair because the blended application creates a natural transition rather than a stark contrast. Your stylist will choose tones that complement your base color, whether that’s warm caramel, cool ash, or rich copper. Darker hair may require more than one session to reach a lighter result, and your stylist will be upfront about what’s realistic for your first visit.

Most balayage appointments take 2 to 4 hours depending on your hair length, density, and how much lightening is involved. Your stylist will give you a time estimate at your consultation so you can plan your day.

Any lightening service involves some level of processing, but balayage is generally gentler than full foil highlights because the application is more targeted. Your stylist controls exactly where and how much lightener is applied. We also use bond-building treatments to protect hair integrity during the service. If your hair has been heavily processed before, your stylist will be honest about what’s safe to do in one session.

Full balayage sessions are typically every 3 to 5 months, which is significantly less frequent than traditional highlights. In between, most clients come in for a quick toner or gloss refresh every 6 to 8 weeks to keep the tone fresh and prevent brassiness. Your stylist will help you build a maintenance schedule that fits your budget and lifestyle.

It’s best to come with your hair in its natural state. Avoid using heavy styling products beforehand, as they can affect how the color sets. Most stylists will ask you to use a clarifying shampoo before a color service. It’s always helpful to ask your stylist during your consultation for their personal recommendations!

Absolutely! Balayage can look stunning on all hair types, including curly or textured hair, as it enhances natural hair patterns.

Consider your hair’s health, your typical style routine, and the maintenance commitment. Consult with a stylist to discuss your vision and realistic outcomes.

Yes, transitioning from traditional highlights to balayage is common, and it can give your hair a more modern, low-maintenance look.

To maintain your color, use sulfate-free shampoos, regularly condition your hair, avoid excessive heat styling, and come in for regular and quick toner services every 6 to 8 weeks or as outlined by your stylist.

Balayage is a hand-painting technique that creates soft, natural highlights. Ombre is a gradient look where hair goes from dark at the roots to light at the ends. Balayage is how the color is applied. Ombre is what the finished look looks like. You can use balayage technique to achieve an ombre result.

Yes. Many of our stylists combine foil highlights near the roots for brightness with balayage through the mid-lengths and ends for a natural blend. This gives you the best of both techniques. Your stylist will recommend the right combination during your consultation.

Balayage. Because the color is blended and doesn't start at the root, balayage can go 3-5 months between full sessions. Highlights show a root line sooner and typically need a touch-up every 6-8 weeks. Both benefit from a toner refresh every 6-8 weeks to keep the tone fresh.

Current medical guidance from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says hair color is considered safe during pregnancy. Very little dye is absorbed through the scalp. That said, we always recommend checking with your doctor first. Many clients wait until after the first trimester as a precaution.

Yes, but your stylist needs to know about it. Box dye contains metallic salts that react differently with professional products. Be honest about your history during the consultation. Your stylist will adjust their approach to get you the best result safely. It may take more than one session.

It depends on how dark you are and how light you want to go. Going from very dark to very light often takes two or more sessions to protect the health of your hair. Your stylist will be honest about what's realistic in one visit and build a plan to get you there safely.

Highlights

Babylights are ultra-fine, closely spaced highlights that mimic the subtle dimension of sun-kissed childhood hair. Traditional highlights are larger, more visible sections that create more contrast. Babylights enhance what you already have. Highlights deliver a bigger, more noticeable transformation.

Yes. Partial highlights start at $115 and focus on the top, crown, and face frame. Full highlights start at $150 and cover your entire head. Partial highlights are faster and use fewer foils. Your stylist will recommend which type you need during your consultation.

Color

A toner is the fastest fix. Brassiness happens when warm undertones surface as your color fades or processes. A professional toner neutralizes the warmth and restores the tone you originally wanted. It takes about 30 minutes and starts at $50. This is exactly what toner appointments are for.

Every 4 to 6 weeks for most blondes. The longer you wait, the more regrowth there is to lift, which increases the risk of uneven color and banding.

Banding is a visible ring of mismatched color that happens when roots are processed unevenly. It's most common when too much time passes between retouches or when lightener overlaps onto previously bleached hair. Staying on schedule and seeing the same stylist are the best ways to prevent it.

Yes. Every bleach retouch at The Hair Standard includes a toner to finish the shade. Bleach alone doesn't create your final color. The toner is what gives you your specific shade of blonde.

About 2 to 3 hours including application, processing, toner, wash, and style.

A bleach retouch removes color from your roots (lightening them to match existing blonde). A root touch up adds color to your roots (darkening or enriching them to match a deeper shade). If your roots are dark and the rest of your hair is light, you need a bleach retouch.

Simple fixes (toning out brassiness, adjusting shade) can often be done in one session. More complex corrections (removing box dye, going from dark to light, fixing banding) may take 2-4 sessions spread over weeks. Your stylist will be honest about the timeline.

Yes. Box dye removal is one of the most common corrections we do. Box dyes often contain stronger chemicals that react unpredictably with professional products, so the process requires careful assessment and often multiple sessions. Bring your full hair history to the consultation.

Our goal is always to protect your hair's integrity. In complex cases, we spread the correction across multiple sessions specifically to avoid over-processing. We use bond-building treatments throughout the process. Your stylist will never push your hair past what's safe.

Bring reference photos of the color you want, and be honest about your full hair history. Every chemical treatment you've had in the last 1-2 years matters. The more your stylist knows, the better the plan.

Fantasy color is fully customized, so pricing depends on your starting hair color, the number of colors used, hair length, and design complexity. Your stylist will give you a full cost breakdown at your free consultation.

In most cases, yes. Vivid colors need a very light base to show true. If your hair isn't already lightened, that's a separate service that may take one or more sessions. Your stylist will build a safe timeline.

About 4-6 weeks, or roughly 10-24 washes. Pastels and reds fade faster. Deeper tones like emerald and burgundy hold longer. How often you wash and your home care routine make the biggest difference.

Yes. Peekaboo color is placed underneath your top layer so it's hidden when your hair is down and shows with movement. It's a popular option for clients who want to express themselves without going all-in.

Your stylist can help you transition back. Depending on what was done, this might involve growing it out, toning over the vivid color, or a phased correction. It's a conversation to have at a consultation.

Color correction is priced by the hour, starting at $100/hr. The total depends on the severity of the issue and how many sessions are needed. Your stylist will give you an estimate at your free consultation before any work begins.

Color correction fixes color that didn't turn out right. It could be banding, brassiness, uneven tone, or damage from box dye. It's priced by the hour because every situation is different. Your stylist will assess your hair during a free consultation and give you an honest estimate.

Extensions

That depends on your hair type, density, lifestyle, and goals. Hand-tied wefts are our most popular for their lightweight feel. Beaded wefts are a team favorite for their zero-adhesive, gentle attachment. Keratin bonds offer the most natural movement. We also offer tape-ins by request for small areas. Your stylist will recommend the best method during your free consultation.

Most extension installations take 2 to 4 hours depending on the method and how much hair is being added. Your stylist will give you a time estimate at your consultation so you can plan your day.

Yes. Quality human hair extensions can be washed, heat-styled, curled, and straightened just like your natural hair. If you want your extensions colored to match a new shade, your stylist can do that too. They’ll advise on the best approach during your consultation.

Extensions can be safely removed at any time by your stylist. The removal process takes about 30-60 minutes depending on the method. Your natural hair will be in the same condition it was when the extensions were installed, assuming proper maintenance was followed.

Use sulfate-free shampoo, brush gently with a loop brush, avoid sleeping with wet hair, and keep heat styling moderate. Your stylist will give you a full care guide at your installation appointment. The better you care for them at home, the longer they last.

Yes, when the right method is used. Hand-tied wefts are the lightest option and our top recommendation for fine hair. The key is proper weight distribution and regular maintenance. Your stylist will assess your hair during a free consultation and recommend the safest method for your density.

The hair itself lasts 6 to 12 months depending on quality and care. Tape-in hair can often be reused 2-3 times. Hand-tied wefts typically last 6-9 months. You’ll need a move-up appointment every 6-8 weeks to maintain the placement as your natural hair grows.

Your hair should be at least 6-7 inches for most professional extension methods. Shorter than that makes it difficult to hide the attachment points. The best way to find out if you're a candidate is a free consultation where your stylist can assess your length and density.

Use a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction. Brush your hair gently and put it in a loose braid before bed. Never sleep with wet hair. A silk bonnet or scrunchie helps keep everything in place. These simple habits extend the life of your extensions significantly.

After the initial installation, expect a move-up appointment every 6-8 weeks. Move-up costs vary by method and stylist but are typically less than the initial install. Your stylist will walk you through the full ongoing cost during your free consultation so there are no surprises.

Yes, but it should be done by a professional who understands how to work around the bonds or wefts. Your extension stylist can color your hair during a move-up appointment. Never attempt to color at home with extensions in.

Each of our stylists specialize and offer a variety of hair extensions, including tape-ins, clip-ins, beaded and handtied wefts, and keratin bond extensions. Each type has its own benefits, and our stylists can help you choose the best option based on your hair type, lifestyle, and desired look.

To figure which extensions are right for your hair type, lifestyle, and look you want to achieve, we suggeset having consult with a hair stylist. They will consider factors like your hair’s health, thickness, and color to recommend the most suitable extensions.

The cost of hair extensions varies depending on the type of extensions, the length and volume of hair required, and the complexity of the application. We offer a free initial consultation where we can provide a detailed quote based on your specific needs.

When applied and maintained correctly, hair extensions should not damage your natural hair. Our stylists are trained to apply and maintain hair extensions in a way that minimizes any risk to your natural hair.

If you experience any discomfort or issues with your extensions, please contact us immediately. Our stylists are here to ensure your extensions look great and feel comfortable.

Maintenance frequency can vary based on the type of extensions and your natural hair growth, typically ranging from every 4 to 8 weeks.

Yes, with precautions. Wet your hair with fresh water before getting in the pool or ocean. Apply a leave-in conditioner for protection. Braid your hair or put it in a loose bun. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water after swimming. Chlorine and saltwater can dry out extensions and fade color.

Haircuts

Women's haircuts typically take longer and involve more technique. A standard women's cut includes a consultation, shampoo, detailed layering or shaping, blowout, and styling. A men's cut is usually faster with less sectioning. The price reflects the time and skill involved, not the gender.

A professional blowout typically lasts 3-5 days. With the right maintenance (dry shampoo, sleeping on a silk pillowcase, avoiding moisture), some clients stretch it to a full week.

A professional wash, blowout, and style. Your stylist washes your hair, then uses a round brush and blow dryer to create a smooth, voluminous, polished finish. It takes about 45 minutes and starts at $45. No cutting, no color. Just your hair at its absolute best.

The cost of a trim is typically the same as a haircut because it involves the same amount of time, attention, and care, including a wash, blowdry, and style. We ensure each trim maintains or enhances your hairstyle, keeping your hair looking its best.

Face shape is one factor your stylist will consider, but it’s not the only one. During your consultation, they’ll also look at your hair texture, density, lifestyle, and how much time you want to spend styling. The goal is a cut that works for your whole picture, not just one feature.

It depends on your hair type and style. Short or precision cuts (pixies, bobs) look best with a trim every 4 to 6 weeks. Medium-length straight or wavy hair can go 6 to 8 weeks. Curly and textured hair often goes 10 to 12 weeks between cuts. Your stylist will recommend a schedule based on your specific cut and how fast your hair grows.

Yes, and we encourage it. Photos help your stylist understand exactly what you’re going for. They’ll let you know if the style will work with your hair type and suggest any adjustments to make it work even better for you.

Every women’s haircut includes a one-on-one consultation, wash, cut, blowout, and style. Your stylist will talk through what you want before they start, and you’ll leave with your hair fully finished and styled.

Yes. We have stylists who specialize in curly and textured hair and use techniques like dry cutting and hybrid wet-dry cutting to work with your natural curl pattern. Because curly hair behaves differently than straight hair, we recommend booking with a stylist who has experience with your texture. Let us know what you're working with and we'll match you with the right person.

Most haircut appointments take 45 minutes to an hour, including the consultation, wash, cut, blowout, and style. If you have very long or thick hair, plan for closer to 60 to 90 minutes.

Yes, you can customize your service to your preferences. Please inform us when booking your appointment if you’d like to exclude certain services like shampooing or blow-drying.

No, a haircut will not affect the natural growth rate of your hair but can help remove split ends and maintain its health, making it look fuller and more vibrant as it grows.

Yes, we do offer bang trims as a quick service between your regular haircuts. Please contact us for details on pricing and scheduling.

That’s completely fine. A lot of our clients come in without a plan. During the consultation, your stylist will ask about your daily routine, your hair’s natural behavior, and what’s been bothering you about your current cut. They’ll suggest options based on what they see and what you tell them.

About 45 minutes for most hair types. Thicker or longer hair may take closer to an hour.

Either way. Every blowout starts with a wash. Come as you are.

Yes. Your stylist can finish with curls, waves, or a smooth straight style. Let them know what you're going for when you sit down.

It depends on your style. Short cuts and fades look best with a trim every 2-3 weeks. Medium-length styles can go 4-6 weeks. Longer hair stretches to 6-8 weeks. Your stylist will recommend a schedule based on how your hair grows.

Barbershops specialize in short, traditional cuts and fades. A salon offers a wider range of styles, longer hair expertise, and consultation-driven service. If you want something beyond a standard buzz or fade, a salon stylist has the training for it.

Every men's haircut includes a consultation and cut. Your stylist will talk through what you want before they start. Pricing depends on the style and any add-ons like a beard trim or lineup.

Yes. Beard trims, lineups, and edge-ups are available as add-ons. Let your stylist know what you need when you sit down.

That's fine. Bring a photo if you have one, or just describe what you like and don't like about your current cut. Your stylist will recommend styles based on your hair type and face shape.
