Laken first knew she wanted to be a hairstylist when she realized how much she loved styling her and her sister’s hair when they were younger. She had never pictured herself behind a desk or counter somewhere. Laken knew she wanted to do something fun and creative, and the hair industry was the perfect fit for her.
Immediately after high school, Laken took a leap of faith and enrolled in Euphoria. It was a nerve-racking step for her, but it got her out of her comfort zone. She learned a lot in school, but it was not until she started assisting in a real salon that she learned the most valuable lessons.
Her first mentor, Jodi, has significantly influenced Laken’s hair education journey. From Jodi, she learned the business side of things. The critical lesson of time management came along as well. Laken is grateful for her education and continued education from her mentors, coworkers, and friends.
The art of color formulation takes time and dedication to master. But with any color service, the hard work is so worth it in the end.
Laken loves the idea of starting with a blank canvas. She knows she is about to create a masterpiece when she can have free reign to create movement and dimension in the hair.
With any balayage service comes a love of trust and creative freedom. Laken loves the ability to achieve the look of her client’s dreams with just a little bleach, a few foils, and a couple of hours.
Cutting requires a lot of technique and focus. Precision is needed to achieve the right shape and texture. The challenge is so for Laken.
When Laken is not behind the chair, she is most likely painting or doing yoga. She has also enjoyed getting back into the gym. Laken loves to try new recipes. So picture her in a messy kitchen with lots of yummy dishes. Oh, and her cat Luna is her sidekick.
