Skyler has always known she was destined to be a hairstylist. From as early as fourth grade, she proudly declared her dream of working in the beauty industry. Inspired by accompanying her mom to salon appointments, Skyler fell in love with the creative and uplifting salon environment. Her time working reception at The Hair Standard solidified her decision, giving her a firsthand look at the dynamic and exciting world of hairstyling.
Skyler’s journey began with a pivotal experience at The Hair Standard, where she worked part-time while attending CSN. Realizing that hairstyling was her true passion, she enrolled in beauty school in February 2022. During her time there, she continued working at the salon, gaining valuable insight from observing and learning from experienced stylists.
After graduating in August 2023, Skyler dove into an assisting program that further enhanced her skills and confidence, helping her grow far beyond what she learned in school.
Skyler’s biggest takeaway from her journey so far has been the importance of not comparing herself to others. She believes that everyone progresses at their own pace, and focusing on the quality of her work is far more important than how quickly she can achieve a result. This mindset has allowed her to embrace her unique growth and celebrate her progress.
Skyler loves the transformative power of blowouts and styling. To her, it’s the final step that brings every service to life. She takes particular joy in smoothing out curly hair, finding the process satisfying and rewarding. For Skyler, styling is where the magic comes together, leaving clients feeling polished and confident.
Blonding is one of Skyler’s favorite specialties because it allows her to get creative and customize each client’s look. She enjoys brightening up their hair and adding a touch of fun to their overall style.
Skyler finds color work exciting because of its endless possibilities. Understanding color theory and formulating unique shades has become one of her favorite aspects of hairstyling. She loves experimenting with different formulas to create personalized results for her clients.
Although cutting doesn’t come as naturally to Skyler as coloring does, she’s eager to keep learning. She enjoys mastering angles and techniques, knowing that each new skill adds to her ability to deliver precise and flattering haircuts.
When Skyler isn’t at the salon, she’s all about spending time with the people she loves. Whether it’s hanging out with friends who are home from college or enjoying quality time with her family, Skyler cherishes every moment. She also loves reading and binge-watching her favorite TV shows, finding joy in these simple pleasures during her downtime.
