It Started with Mom and YouTube
Growing up, mom couldn’t do Destiny’s hair. Mom would try her best, but as Destiny got older and the demands increased, mom didn’t want to do it anymore. Destiny had to adapt, so she turned to YouTube. It changed everything.
Destiny became obsessed with beauty channels on YouTube. (She still is.) Many sleepless nights were spent watching Bella Fiori, Chloe Morello, and Desi Perkins throughout high school. The YouTube community of beauty artists and their work was intoxicating. She knew she had to be a part of it.
Not Quite Sunshine and Lollipops
Destiny’s early hair days weren’t quite kind to her. In school, she was shy, lacked confidence, and, like many artists, is a perfectionist. These three qualities lead to quiet, slow services. The clients looking for quick and cheap services from students didn’t respond well.
Her First Job
Finally finished with school, Destiny got her first hair job as a salon receptionist. Not all salons are equal. This particular salon wasn’t the nicest, and after a few months of toxicity and next to nothing to pay, Destiny was ready to quit.
Enter The Hair Standard
A coworker told Destiny that Mel and Heather at THS salon were looking for an assistant. After four months of applying, Destiny got the job. “Mel and Heather saved me. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be doing hair. Working for them and The Hair Standard was a different world. I loved it!” she said. Today, Destiny’s balayage talent is a legend. It’s hard to believe there was a time she wasn’t masterful.
Destiny said she loves coming to work and knowing she’s working at a fantastic salon with many other excellent, inspiring, and talented stylists. “The THS family is my favorite part about coming to work! I love the environment and the girls at the salon!” she said.
Destiny has a passion for any lived-in, low-maintenance color. She finds a certain satisfaction in giving a client a gorgeous look in the salon that continues to be beautiful in the months to come.
Destiny’s book is mainly filled with balayage appointments. She has learned many techniques throughout her hair education. Some of Destiny’s balayage work is our most popular and featured pictures.
Those early school days of cuts traumatized Destiny in all the right ways. She loves men’s cuts as she can whip them out like no one’s business. She is quick while still showing extreme carefulness.
Destiny has three dogs and loves hanging out with them. She spends a lot of her free time watching YouTube hair videos (of course) to stay up to date with all the latest trends. In addition, she loves reading and listening to books and podcasts. Some of her favorite genres include self-growth and true crime.
